Ashok Block has been divided into two sub-blocks i.e. Ashok East & Ashok West.

The coal of Ashok Block is of Non-Coking and is suitable for use in Thermal Power Plants. Ashok Opencast Project was started on 18/02/1994 to exploit the reserves of Ashok East sub block with 1.5 MTY capacity. Further , EPR of 6.5 MTY (5.0 MTY incremental capacity) was approved on 13/04/2006. Later EPR of 10 MTY (3.5 MTY incremental capacity) was approved on 19/04/2008.

Piparwar Project was amalgamated to Ashok Opencast Project on 01/08/2020 with due permission of DGMS vide Permission No. 010262/SEZ/Ranchi Region/per/2020/5578, dated 30/07/2020.

1. Rail mode : Ashok OCP has two railway siding namely Rajdhar Siding & RCM Siding from where coal (-100 mm size) is despatched to various thermal based power plant.

2. Road Mode : Liquidation of coal stock is carried out by road transport to Private and \n Public Agencies / Companies. Coal is also despatched to PSEB through Monnet - Dan\n -iel Washery near KDH Siding.

3. Road cum Rail Mode (RCR) : Coal is despatched to Power Plant through RCR mode.

All storage of coal stock and its transportation is done as per The Jharkhand Mineral (Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transportation and Storage ) Rules 2017.\nBook an Appointment

SAFETY PRACTICES ADOPTED AT ASHOK OCP

1. SMP , SOPs & COPs are formulated, implemented and reviewed periodically.

2. Safety pledge followed by tool box safety talk before starting of every shift.\nPersonal and family counselling on safety and health time to time.

3. Training with safety video demonstration prepared based on past incident and potential threat on safety related to mine, machinery and men.

4. Preparation and implementation of Mines Specific Transport Rule.

5.Handling of high voltage cable with the use of cable reeler and to make gate way for safe passage of heavy duty dumper by using cable hanger locally made with the scrape material. 6. Handling of heavy duty HEMM tyre with the help of fork lifter.

7. Use of Pontoon for safe and smooth operation of pumps.

8. Use of traffic signal torch/light by dump man / trip man.

9. Implementation of suggestion/ observation given by DGMS, ISO , Safety Audits , CMPDIL (Technical Studies), PSC and others, if any, judiciously.

10. Implementation of suggestion issued by ED (Safety), CIL, through GM (Safety), CCL
